Foundation, at a seminar Dr. Brazelton conducted
at ABCD on support services for the economically disadvantaged.

Boston,
Mass., April 19, 2003 - As
part of an effort to refocus attention on the ongoing struggles
of lower-income families, ABCD is sponsoring a series called
“Securing the Safety Net.” The series of seminars
are designed to spark public dialogue on timely domestic
issues and inspire development of new ideas and active community
involvement regarding support services for those who might
be disadvantaged.
T. Berry Brazelton, M.D., noted pediatrician, author and
child advocate lead off the series at ABCD headquarters.
Many attending were Urban College students working toward
associate degrees and OCCS certification in early childhood
education. Among them was Giselle Pierre, whose son, Gregory,
is pictured to the right with
Dr. Brazelton. Gregory is holding a photograph taken of
him with the doctor when Gregory was just a few days old
and part of a study being conducted by Dr. Brazelton on
newborns. Dr. Brazelton was thrilled to see the picture
and meet Gregory and his mother! UCB students, many of whom
are currently working in childcare, gave the seminar an
A+!
