Three Ways to Attend the Urban College of Boston

computer applications course.
UCB students benefit from a hands-on computer applications course.

1. As a Degree Candidate

Students admitted as degree candidates will pursue studies leading to the degree of Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education, General Studies, or Human Services Administration.

Many applicants, depending on their interests and level of skills, may decide to earn their first college credits as UCB certificate candidates (see below).

2. As a Certificate Candidate

Students admitted as certificate candidates will choose a designated cluster of courses in an area of their personal or professional interest, such as Early Childhood Education (in Spanish as well), General Studies, Human Services, Case Management, Youth Program Administration, Direct Service Worker, Management, and Personal Computer Applications.

Courses successfully completed in a certificate program may be applicable to a degree program in the same or a related area of study.

3. As a Professional Studies Student

Admission as a professional studies student permits enrollment in courses of personal or professional interest with no obligation to complete a degree or certificate.

These courses may be applied to an Associate of Arts or Certificate program.

The Application Process

Applicants to the Urban College of Boston should submit a completed application together with a copy of his/her high school or GED diploma. Applicants for the Associate of Arts Degree should also include $10.00 for the application fee.

New students will be given a writing and/or math placement test and will meet with an advisor. They will receive assistance in selecting courses and instruction on how to register and pay for courses. These sessions are held during convenient evening hours.
