“We
are extremely fortunate that Dr. Turner has agreed to lead the Urban
College of Boston as it continues its important mission of providing
access to higher education to Boston’s inner-city residents,”
said John Nucci, chairman of the UCB Board of Trustees. “We
feel confident that under Dr. Turner’s leadership, the Urban

the support systems that enable them to stay in school, graduate
and go on to make a difference for themselves, their families and
their communities. I am so impressed with the accomplishments of
this college and eager to help it to continue to grow and serve
our community.”

Community Development (ABCD). In 1993 the College was chartered
by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and authorized to grant associate
degrees. In 2001, Urban College received full accreditation from
the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

who might otherwise never go to college with the opportunity to
achieve higher education credentials and skills tied to upwardly
mobile careers. UCB offers a highly supportive environment that
integrates a college education with career preparation, skill development,
and access to ABCD’s supportive services and career development
programs.
