Certificate Programs

Urban College of Boston (UCB) offers seven certificate programs. Depending on the course of study, students are required to complete between 21 credits (7 courses) and 27 credits (9 courses). Each of UCB’s certificates can be applied toward an associate degree.

Case Management Certificate

The Case Management certificate program prepares students for entry-level case management positions in social service agencies. Students already employed in the field will acquire skills to prepare for career advancement.


Clinical Research Certificate

The Clinical Research Coordination certificate program is designed to prepare students to enter the clinical research profession. Coursework is built on the core competencies for the profession as defined by the National Institutes of Health.

Please note that students who wish to apply for this certificate program must complete an additional application process. Acceptance is not guaranteed.


Early Childhood Education Certificate

The Early Childhood Education certificate program introduces students to the fundamentals of childhood, how children grow and learn, and best practices in the field of early childhood education. In addition, the Certificate offers students the opportunity to earn the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential and can satisfy Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care requirements for certification as a Preschool or Infant/Toddler teacher.


Elder Care Certificate

The Elder Care certificate program prepares graduates for work in the expanding field of services to aging adults. These include employment in supported elder housing facilities, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, adult day care agencies, home care agencies, councils on aging, senior centers, and others.


General Studies Certificate

The General Studies certificate program blends general education core courses and electives aligned with individual aspirations to give students the opportunity to explore their individual career and education interests.


Human Services Certificate

The Human Services certificate program prepares students for employment in social service agencies, schools, and centers.
