Student Government Association
The Student Government Association (SGA) is a group of four current Urban College students who act as the voice of the Student Body to the Administration. They help identify and address student concerns while creating an inclusive environment and promoting better communication and collaboration among students, faculty, and staff. Their voice, actions, and decisions can have immediate and long-term impacts on the Urban College student body.
Positions
President
The President oversees the smooth operation of Student Government, leads meetings, sets agendas, and works with the Director of Student Services to guide its yearly direction. They also represent SGA to students and staff, make key decisions, encourage student involvement, and maintain accountability among members.
Vice President
The Vice President supports the President when needed and ensures smooth communication and organization within Student Government. Responsibilities include maintaining records, managing meeting logistics, overseeing the calendar, and ensuring compliance with SGA rules and procedures.
Ambassador of Student Success
The Ambassador of Student Success advocates for student needs by gathering feedback, running surveys, and supporting campus involvement. They also promote participation in student events and workshops, advocating for events that would best support the students.
Ambassador of Academic Affairs
The Ambassador of Academic Affairs represents student voices on academic issues by addressing concerns about courses, policies, and grading, while also sharing and helping develop academic resources. They also may work with faculty to improve academic support and are open to student input.

President - Gabriela Reyes
“Mother, Student, Colleague. God comes first in my life. Second comes my child. I enjoy reading, trying new restaurants and things, and getting to know people. I love the flexibility & economical freedom [Urban College] provides, and I'd like to help students in any way I can to reap full benefits. I am always available to speak to any students, it's my passion to help others.”
What do you hope to accomplish in your role in Student Government?
“Bring more awareness to various things such as mental health, dv, homelessness, and ABA therapy for whom may need it. [I want to] bring the students closer, and bring new students to the school.”
Ambassador of Student Success - Alecia Hunt
“Hello Everyone! My name is Alecia. I am a mother to a beautiful son - I am studying at Urban College because of the flexibility of online courses and the affordability! I am able to complete all my courses online and learn the same content as I would in-person. I also work at Urban College as a Learning Support Associate for the Learning Resource Center. I gather resources and helpful links for students to support them throughout their educational journey. In my free time, I enjoy going out for walks with my son, shopping, and enjoying family time!”
What do you hope to accomplish in your role in Student Government?
“As Ambassador of Student Success I want to help students reach their full potential! I will be able to assist students with their needs, questions, or concerns. I want every student to be successful at Urban College!”
Vice President - Miliecent Rodriguez
“My name is Miliecent Rodriguez. I am a student of human services at Urban College of Boston. I am from Dominican Republic.”
What do you hope to accomplish in your role in Student Government?
“Listen to the students' opinions about what Urban College can improve. I hope help Students like me accomplish their dreams like me.”
Ambassador of Academic Affairs - Lani McEachern
“Hi, my name is Lani and I am studying General Studies at Urban College. I enjoy taking classes in English and Childcare. I am from China, but I live in Boston. In my free time, I like to walk my dog, read books, go shopping, and eat. I spend time in Hawaii with my family and my dog every year. I love bubble tea!”
What do you hope to accomplish in your role in Student Government?
“I want to help students that need help. Reach out via email or text if you have any questions! You can also reach out to the learning resource center for tutoring and help with any homework. I can help with anything.”
Terms
Members of the student government meet monthly to discuss initiatives and projects to improve the student experience.
Members of student government must be in good academic and conduct standing with the college.
They are encouraged to be present at Student Services Events and Workshops.
